Anne Peterson, Department of Philosophy, recently learned that she is the 2015 recipient of the "Review of Metaphysics Dissertation Essay Contest." The Review of Metaphysics is a highly regarded journal (acceptance rate between 7% and 15%), with the contest being a very competitive prize. Anne won the prize for her essay, "The Primacy of the Organism: Being, Unity, and Diversification in Aristotle's Metaphysics." It will be published in an upcoming issue of the The Review of Metaphysics.
The Publisher of The Review of Metaphysics, the Philosophy Education Society, Inc., announces its annual Dissertation Essay Competition yearly. The competition is open to all participants who have been awarded the Ph.D. degree in philosophy in the United States or Canada during 2015. Entries must be either a chapter from a dissertation or an essay based directly upon a dissertation. Essays may be on any topic dealt with in the dissertation. Essays are judged anonymously. The author of the prize-winning essay will receive $500 along with their essay being published in The Review of Metaphysics.
